Though it may come as no surprise to my friends or family- I decided about a year ago to have Gastric Bypass Surgery after many many hours of studying and researching the procedure online and asking many questions of people who have had the surgery. I also attended several support group mtgs and felt as though I was finally ready to take this leap in my life. So on October 26, 6 days ago I had my surgery at Normal Regional in Norman OK by Dr. Ronnie Keith. He is one of the most renowned and experienced doctors here in Oklahoma and has preformed thousands of surgeries. I felt like he was the right Dr. for me.
The surgery went perfecting and I have had zero complications-*knock on wood*- as of yet and finally am starting to feel a little better and more like myself. I feel better today than I have any other day up until this point.
I started off weighing 241 lbs. before my 10 day diet. the day of my surgery I weighed in at 233 lbs and today I weigh 227 lbs. I'm finally starting to get my appetite back and I'm craving solid foods now. I can only have a few teaspoons of broth or water before I get full. which is frustrating! I'm thirsty! and all i can do is sip water. which does nothing for my thirst. I also have a gastrectomy tube in which i can "feed" myself meal replacement shakes and medications that's too big to swallow. the tube is great but annoying because it hurts! I am regaining my strength and Matt and Ryley have been absolutely amazing throughout this process. I feel so blessed to have them here with me and to help me to stay strong.
I will continually add updates on my feelings and weight over the next few months. so check frequently for those updates. Thanks so much to all my friends and family who have been so supportive and called and text-ed and just been great. Love to all!
